I have been reading an excellent book called Learning to Soar by Avery T. Willis and Matt Willis. Avery and Matt are a grandfather/grandson team.
Between them this dynamic duo has a lot of experience serving the Lord. Avery T. Willis, Jr. is an international speaker, leader, author and conference leader and serves on a number of boards as director, ambassador at large, etc.
Matt is currently serving the Lord in ministry with his family in Asia.
Everyone goes through uncomfortable situations and places in their lives. Using examples of Eagle parents with their young, as well as Moses and the Israelites leaving Egypt, Avery and Matt take us on a journey in discovering the ways of God. Learning to Soar shows us how God uses these times of "stirring" to get us out of the nest. Help us grow toward maturity.
Learning to Soar is well written and a little different. Having two authors from diverse generations and distinct voices creates an interesting read. I confess it took a few chapters before I got into this book, but once I did I enjoyed it. The unified message rings through loud and clear...God is going to take you out of your comfort zone so you can move forward...and it's a good thing.
I liked the different perspectives and experiences reflected in the writing. The book offers an understanding of God that somehow gets ignored or missed in Christian circles today. Learning to Soar helps to remind the reader of the awesomeness of God, and the importance of following His lead.
So go order the book, and check out the website too: Learning to Soar.
You'll be glad you did!
